We'll Miss You, Trudy

We lost Trudy in mid-February to severe colic. Trudy had had many episodes of colic over the eight years that she had been with us. Because she had been starved before the SPCA rescued her and relocated her at Popcorn Park, she was very prone to this problem.

This past November, Trudy had a serious colic. She was treated intensively for more than a week, and survived to thrive for three more months on a special diet and regimen. She also got to enjoy playing in all that snow we had this winter with her daughter, Seven.

Sadly, she could not pull through this time. The decision was made to humanely euthanize her when she failed to respond to treatment and her condition deteriorated rapidly. we didn't know her exact age but she was in her 20's. She was a great mom and a gentle giant, always nudging her keepers for attention. We will truly all miss her.

You can read about Trudy and Seven when they first came to Popcorn Park in 2003, and see more photos of both Trudy and Seven, (and some of our other horses), on farrier day.
