AHS/Popcorn Park reduces Cat Adoption Fees

IN AN EFFORT TO FIND GOOD HOMES for an overwhelming number of orphaned cats and kittens, Associated Humane Societies will reduce its feline adoption fees from now until August.

Interested, loving and responsible families and individuals need only pay a $50 fee to cover the many benefits of their new pet after approval of the adoption application and donation.

“The numbers this year are staggering. At all three of our Animal Care Centers in Newark, Tinton Falls and Forked River, we have hundreds and hundreds of cats and kittens currently in our care – more than any year I have seen,” said Roseann Trezza, Executive Director, Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park. “What’s truly disconcerting about that is this is the time of year where many cats have kittens. That means we need to prepare for even more being dropped off at our doors.”

Getting a late start on National Adopt a Cat Month, but extending it through the month of July, Associated Humane Societies is promoting adoptions with a number of incentives.

All cats will be spayed/neutered and microchipped, and receive their FVCRP vaccination and rabies inoculation, as well as an identification tag, cat carrier and collar.

All featured felines are available at our Newark shelter.

If you’ve ever thought about bringing a cat or kitten into your home, consider this: the more than 70 million cats and kittens who are currently living in shelters throughout the nation could be part of a family and making life quality better. Studies show that cats help to lower their owner's blood pressure, minimize stress and heart disease, reduce depression and that pet owners make fewer visits to their doctors.

“Cats make lives better – find the perfect one to bring home to your world. You are also saving a life when adopting one of our fabulous felines,” Ms. Trezza said.

There are hundreds of dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and small animals available for adoption at the AHS Animal Care Centers in Tinton Falls, Newark and Forked River. You can check them out before meeting them in person by logging on to Petfinder
