UPDATE - SEPT.25
Emma just wanted to drop by not only to show off her new look (she got a pretty purple shirt and brand new harness!) but also to say thank you so much to so many great people that donated toward her care recently.
Emma is making such progress, it's just unbelievable that she's the same dog that came in just a few short weeks ago in such a sad state. Her eyes have completely cleared up and the swelling around them has gone down. There is no more redness and inflammation in her skin. Her hair is growing back now too! The best part is, Emma feels so much better. She is ridiculously playful and fun-loving, and is always so happy and extremely loving and affectionate too.
Emma is not available for adoption yet as there is still quite a bit of treatment needed for her conditions, but stay tuned for more on Emma's transformation!
UPDATE SEPT.26 - One of our kind supporters was touched by Emma's situation, and wrote this poem for her:
My name is Emma, please look closely at me,
I had a family I gave all of my love to, do you see?
But I got older, and I was no longer of any use,
So then I became a source of neglect and abuse.
They brought me here, and wanted them to just kill me,
My condition was just horrid, but they bought a new puppy.
I feel bad for that little pup, because one sad, sad day,
She will also get older, and just get thrown away.
But these people are working hard to give me a new life,
One filled with love, not filled with grief and strife.
And even being betrayed the way that I have been,
I just want someone to give all my love to again.
I know there is a kind soul, who I can still serve,
That will give me the love that I so greatly deserve.
Please open your heart, and just let me come home,
I really am a good dog, and I don't want to be alone.
