When the Associated Humane Societies' Tinton Falls branch received a phone call from the Asbury Park Police Dept. regarding a sick dog, ACO Kevin Rooney was dispatched to rescue the dog that was being held by a resident of the city. It is believed that this pup may have been her dog but at this point, AHS considers it a stray. She is a young female pit bull. It is obvious that whoever it was who owned the dog didn't care enough to bring the pup to a safe environment for her future disposition.
We call her "Sylvia" and her guardian had allowed a skin condition to go untreated. As a result, the mange encompassed most of the body and created secondary infections, sores and abscesses. The miserable effects of this condition will take several weeks to improve. Your donations give us the ability to ensure that all necessary care is given to Sylvia and all of the other needy abused and unwanted animals that come through our doors.

Even though mange takes time, effort and expense, the success of our treatment and care helps them to have a "new leash on life" and find a forever home.
Such was the experience of the dog we named Hope ...

This wizened old lady was just a pup with the same condition as Sylvia. After a few months at AHS, Hope got a terrific home in Toms River, see photo below left.
Sylvia, however, still needs your help. For more information on Sylvia, e-mail us or call the Society at 732-922-0100. Please refer to File 73206. The Society is located at 2960 Shafto Road in Tinton Falls, near the Rt. 33-34 Circle. The Society is open 7 days a week between noon and 4 p.m.
Please make a donation today to help Sylvia and the many needy animals like her that we care for. |
