Katie And Kiya Suffered In Cage In N.C. Woods

Katie and Kiya are two beautiful Tibetan Mastiff sisters that have been through so much in the last year, and are so deserving of a loving, peaceful home now.

The girls are 8 years old and have been together since puppyhood. Their owner operated an animal care center where Katie and Kiya were good will ambassadors, roaming around and greeting customers. Life took a sad turn for them when their owner was diagnosed with a debilitating illness, and could no longer operate the business or keep her dogs. Katie and Kiya were left in the care of someone that promised to look after them and provide them with a great life but sadly, that never happened.

The girls became part of a hoarding situation and were left in large cages to live basically in the woods in North Carolina, with other animals in cages including wildlife, for many months. Thankfully, a friend of the owner got wind of what happened to Katie and Kiya and came to their rescue. The girls were brought to safety finally, but had already suffered such severe neglect. Covered in ticks and severely matted and underweight, the girls spent some time getting back on their feet. Now it was time to start over.

Our friends at Tibetan Mastiff Rescue have asked us to help the girls get a fresh start in life, and we are so happy to have them with us. They are gentle, sweet, loving ladies that just want to be loved and properly cared for. Being Tibetan Mastiffs, they will need an experienced home, but the girls are very well socialized and don't seem to have an aggressive bone in their bodies. They positively love each other so they must be adopted together. They love people but will need a home with no cats. If you are interested in giving these loving ladies a home, please come and meet them at our AHS/Popcorn Park facility. Call 609-693-1900 or email njhumane2@aol.com with any questions.

If you cannot adopt Katie and Kiya, please consider making a donation to our ResQ Fund on their behalf. We are only able to provide medical care and everything else that's needed to care for animals in need thanks to our generous supporters. You can also text ResQ to 501501 to make a $10.00 donation.
