Bonnie & Clyde Taken In After Owner Dies

We all know what it's like to lose someone close to us. We cry, we mourn, we grieve, then eventually, we learn to get on with our lives. We are equipped to handle loss, though it's never easy, but for a pet who doesn't understand what is going on, imagine how difficult that must be?

Bonnie and Clyde understand how hard it is to lose the one they loved, and we are helping them to heal as best we can. The 18 year old Pomeranian couple had a good home for many years but when their owner passed away suddenly, no one was able to take the elderly pair in. They were taken to our AHS/Popcorn Park facility where they were immediately brought to their own suite where they could remain together and console each other in peace.

We discovered some medical conditions with Clyde right away. It was obvious that Clyde was blind, but he was also severely underweight. Medical tests revealed that Clyde is diabetic. We immediately got him on insulin, which he takes twice a day, and he is already feeling so much better. Bonnie is quite healthy for an 18 year old girl, aside from being just a bit overweight and having a collapsing trachea. The two are just the sweetest little pair that absolutely melt when you give them attention. They are staying in our suite during the day and going home with a staff member at night, so Clyde can get his insulin when needed.

We cannot stress enough the importance of leaving instructions for the care of your pets should you outlive them. Leaving a bequest in your will for their care along with your wishes for your pets is something that all of us should consider. While doing so, please keep in mind that right here at AHS/Popcorn Park, we have Kitty City and Animal Haven Farm, which are retirement homes for dogs and cats. For more information on these programs, please click here.

Bonnie and Clyde will be with us for as long as it takes to get Clyde's insulin regulated, then the sweet and loving little pair will be looking for a new home. To make a donation toward the care of Bonnie and Clyde, please text ResQ to 501501 to make a $10.00 donation, or click here to donate to our ResQ Fund.
