Luna - Severe Skin Infection Left Untreated

If you were to see Luna in passing, you probably wouldn't notice anything wrong with this beautiful, happy girl. Her tail is always wagging, she's always ready to greet a new friend....but get a little closer and you'll be shocked at the sad condition of Luna. This 6 year old boxer/pit mix that was surely a loving and devoted companion her whole life was never even taken to a veterinarian when she developed a skin infection and a variety of other infections long ago. Now that her skin is inflamed, scabbing, and bleeding, her family has given her up, which is probably the best thing for her.

Luna's severe skin infection was left untreated for so long as her owner just assumed that she had allergies, or that she had "pimples" that bled, so she never saw a vet for this terrible infection. Poor Luna is itchy, painful, and her skin is bleeding in many spots and to make matters worse, she came in with a prong collar around her neck, digging into her sores. This will all be a bad memory for Luna real soon, as we start her on the road to recovery.

Luna is now on a variety of medications and will be getting medicated baths as well, for as long as it takes to get her skin healed and getting Luna feeling good again. It seems as if Luna is already feeling a little better, since she walks around with her whole back-end wagging at every person she passes by. She is such a happy, warm, loving girl and we will do everything we can to make her make her well again as quickly as possible. If you would like to help with the care of Luna, you can do so by texting ResQ to 501501 to make a $10.00 donation, or by clicking here to donate to our ResQ Fund:

Once Luna is all healed up, she will be looking for a fresh start in life in a great home. Please stay tuned for more on our new friend Luna and if you are interested in her when she becomes available, call us at 609-693-1900 or you can email us
