Christopher - Deliberately Left on Fire Escape for Days in Freezing Weather

Many times, the job of an Animal Control Officer can be a thankless one even dangerous. It is not the animals that are the problem . it's the contentious attitude of the public.

When ACO Lamar Williams responded to a call on Grove Street in Irvington, he was advised that a guy threw his cat on the fire escape and the cat was there for 3 days -- in the sub-freezing, snowy weather. When our ACO approached the owner, he became extremely aggressive--stating it was his cat -- filled with expletives and he can do what he wants since it messes up his house.

When ACO Williams contacted the Irvington Police, they responded and the AHS took possession of the cat. We call this youngster Christopher and he is about 5 months old. The so-called owner should never had a cat and we want Christopher to have a wonderful life. He could have perished in the situation he was in. If you would like to help Christopher & the stream of unwanted and homeless cats that come through our doors, please donate to our Res-Q Fund or text to donate HumaneHelp at 41444.

Christopher is one of hundreds of cats in need of an open heart and home. Please call 973-824-7080 and refer to File 17875 or e-mail associatedhumane@aol.com

AHS is located at 124 Evergreen Ave. in Newark, just off of Rt. 1 & 9 and Rt. 22. We are open 7 days a week. Please feel free to visit between noon and 5.
