Felix - Update Dec.30th

After being on the roof of a warehouse for 3 days in bone-chilling weather, the young cat was terrified to see the arrival of fire trucks to fight the building's fire. When firefighters were alerted to the cat's predicament, they started up to rescue but with such fire, he jumped approximately 200 feet from the roof.

Tom Circle, ACO for the Associated Humane Societies was called to rescue the cat from the firefighters. Felix was first taken to the Animal Emergency & Referral Service & he was found to have a fracture & dislocation and they recommended either orthopedic repair or amputation of the limb.

Felix was then off to see an orthopedic specialist and a review of the records. Surgery could be performed but it would not be an easy surgery and may not prove successful. After discussions with Dr. Laney Baris at our Popcorn Park Animal Clinic, it was opted to amputate the leg.

Felix is soooo happy and content that he is feeling comfortable in his convalescent cage. He is a real heart melter and there are no strangers in his world -- only friends he hasn't met!

The Res-Q Fund needs to be replenished to assist with the next helpless injured animal that comes through our doors. Please make a donation to help or you can text to donate Humane Help 41444

Felix is a great cat with a terrific purrrrsonality. He is now available for adoption -- as well as so many other cats waiting for an open door to welcome them into a lifetime of love. For more information, call AHS at 609-693-1900. AHS is open 7 days a week. We will be closing early on New Year's Day -- please have a safe, happy and healthy New Year!
