Lucy is a cute and cuddly 4 month old Shih Tzu that was supposedly an adored member of a family. Unfortunately, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors … except those inside.
"In an instant", the young pup had developed a paralysis of her hind quarters. The family did not know what happened but did not want to deal with it any longer. Could she have been dropped? Did she fall from a bed/sofa? Was she roughhousing with youngsters? X-rays and manual manipulation provided no clues as to the possible cause of her condition.
After a brief time at the AHS Medical Dept., it was discovered that she had use of her back legs and was not incontinent. Lucy walks around on "sea legs" and is almost normal in her gait. She is housebroken, does not do well on stairs, and gets along fine with other dogs.
She is an adorable pup, happy-go-lucky, curious about anything that moves, Whatever mishap or mishandling she experienced, it has left Lucy with a chronic neurological problem. The Shih Tzu pup has her whole life ahead of her and would provide love and laughter to a wonderful family.
Thanks to continued efforts by donors, her care in our Medical Dept. was provided through donations to our Res-Q Fund. You can donate to our Res-Q Fund or you can text: HumaneHelp to 41444 to make a contribution toward Lucy's medical care.
