While other dogs were busy getting excited about going on family outings to the park and beach this holiday weekend, this little girl was experiencing a horror that no dog should ever have to know, let alone a 6 week old puppy. Rosey is just a baby ….. a baby that should be rolling around on the floor, playing and having fun with people that love her. Instead, Rosey found herself in the hands of one of the cruelest creatures on this earth - an animal abuser.
Our AHS Newark facility received a call on Thursday from the Orange Police Department regarding a puppy that had been taken from an outrageously awful situation. Rosey was beaten with a baseball bat and if that was not horrifying enough, her abuser then put her in the freezer in an attempt, we assume, to freeze her to death. Thankfully someone called the police to report this sick and twisted individual and Rosey was brought to safety. The case is being investigated by the NJ SPCA and the police department.
Rosey was brought straight to Animal Emergency & Referral Associates in Fairfield for immediate medical care. The veterinarians discovered that Rosey suffered a broken jaw and a fractured skull in the attack. We cannot fathom the pain and agony that this little girl endured and if nothing else, we are thankful that her life was spared and that we have the chance to heal her, and give her the wonderful life that she truly deserves.
Rosey will be staying in the hospital for the next few days and then will be transferred to AHS/Popcorn Park where she will continue to recover and heal. It will be a long and painful process we imagine, but we will do everything in our power to make her feel as comfortable and loved as we can. Rosey's stay in the hospital and her rehabilitation will not come without a price, so we are again asking you to help by please making a donation to our Res-Q Fund or you can text: HumaneHelp to 41444 to make a contribution toward Rosey's medical care.
We also ask that you send your thoughts and prayers to young Rosey during this extremely difficult time in her very young life. Thankfully Rosey was saved, but imagine how many others there are like her that we'll never know about. Animal abuse needs to stop, and it starts with good people like you speaking up on their behalf. Thank you for your support and please stay tuned for another update on Rosey in a few days.
