Although the City of Elizabeth has its own Animal Control Services/Shelter, the AHS doors are open to any needy suffering animals.
Alexis is a very young stray from Elizabeth who was brought to our Medical Dept. with a severe injury to her right rear leg. A good samaritan found her and brought her to another veterinarian. He said the dog had mange …. never mentioned lameness in her leg.The damage was too great and our veterinarian found it necessary to amputate her leg. After a convalescent period, the young lady was moved to the shelter and is adjusting fine to life with three legs. She is about a year old and has her whole life ahead of her.
She is sweet, energetic and hoping someone will overlook that she has only 3 legs. It has not affected Alexis at all! Thanks to our Res-Q Fund, orphans such as Alexis will get the medical care they need.
For more information on Alexis, call AHS in Newark at 973-824-7080 and refer to ID 9187 or you can e-mail us.
AHS is open 7 days a week between noon and 4 p.m. Please stop in and meet Alexis or the many wonderful orphans awaiting a home.
