A SPECIAL REQUEST FROM YOUR OLD FRIEND NINA:
"Hi there- It's your old friend Nina! Remember me? The sad picture of me on the left was shared many times all over the internet a couple of years ago. The day that the picture was taken was the saddest day of my life, but since it led to happiness in the end, I'll tell you about it.
The moment that picture was taken was the moment that my family of 6 years walked away from me and left me at a shelter. I didn't know what I had done to deserve this, I heard they were moving or something like that, but it didn't make any sense to me. I'm not ashamed to say that I cried folks......I cried and cried. So much so that the staff at the shelter began crying right along with me. They didn't know it at the time but I wasn't just crying for my family, I was crying because I was in pain too.
I was transferred a few days later to Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park where I was greeted with lots of hugs and kisses by some nice people! (As you'll see in the second picture there with my friend Sarah!). I was still crying and now I was crying to try to tell them that my misery was not just about my family abandoning me, but because my legs hurt, bad. They saw that I had some trouble walking and started doing a bunch of tests on me. (I didn't mind the tests much because the nice medical staff always gave me a treat afterward). Finally they figured it out, I had torn cruciate ligaments in both of hind legs! Oh what a happy day it was when I met the nice surgeon, Dr. Coodia, that fixed me all up! My days of crying would soon be over!
After my surgery when I was feeling well enough, I took a trip to Pet PT in Cherry Hill to meet Dr. Howe-Smith. That nice man took me swimming and I felt so much better! They made plans to take me swimming a couple days a week for months. What fun I had! Splish-splashing with my new friends at Pet PT! Soon my legs were all fixed, I was no longer in pain and most importantly, I would never cry again.
The nice people at Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park helped me and so many others like me that you don't even know about! Please help them now. They're trying to win the Ocean First Charity Challenge so they can get some stuff to help even more animals. I was lucky that I went to them because as you see in the last picture, I was healed and got a happy home. So many animals deserve this same chance. Please check here to read all about the challenge and to donate.
Thanks for reading my story and helping me when I needed it, and thank you for helping my friends at Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park!
