These beautiful friends are Koda and Maya, an Alaskan Malamute duo that are hoping for a great home of their own. The pair had a home, but they were turned in to our AHS Newark facility by their owner, who could no longer afford to take care of them. (Read their original story here.)
The pair were transferred to us at AHS Lacey for a fresh start in life and we're happy to have them! Koda, (right), a 9 year old male, and Maya, a 7 year old female, had some medical conditions that were left untreated for quite a while. Koda had a tumor on his neck that we removed and thankfully, it turned out to be benign. Thanks to your donations to the AHS Res-Q Fund, Maya, who had a torn ACL in her hind leg which required extensive surgical repair, they both came through their surgeries like real troopers and are doing fantastic now!
Koda and Maya, (left), are extremely bonded with one another. They howl for each other and they just can't stand to be apart. They will need a home where they can stay together forever. They are both such personable, loving, friendly dogs that want nothing more than a little attention and to be treated with kindness and respect. They are both quite spunky, so please don't be deterred by their age. They are playful, energetic, but also well behaved, mellow and laid back. They will need a home with no cats but may get along with a dog closer to their size. Koda and Maya just love everyone they meet and any good family would be lucky to welcome these two sweethearts into their hearts and home.
