Our big, silly friend Leo is getting sillier by the minute folks! Leo is feeling better every day lately and boy does it show. It's been almost a month now since Leo came to us in such horrid condition and he's already feeling like a new puppy! Of course, it's taken lots of medication, many, many medicated baths, a good diet, and lots of good care and attention to get him this far.
We would first like to thank all of you that have helped us to get him this far already. Your donations to our Res-Q Fund are what makes transformations like this possible, and the transformation has only just begun. Leo still has such a long way to go but he's on his way, thanks to our supporters who contribute to our Res-Q Fund. You can donate toward Leo's ongoing care here. We are still in the early stages of Leo's recovery. We have a few weeks to go before Leo's skin infection and other infections have cleared up and then, he will be taking another day trip to North Star Vets to meet with the orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, and ophthalmologist. After those evaluations, Leo will be scheduled for his first three eye surgeries. Read Leo's story when he first arrived.
Leo would like to send a HUGE thank you out to the kind person that purchased this duck toy from our Amazon Wish List recently. You wouldn't believe how something as silly as a squeaky duck toy can actually make the day of a dog like Leo, that never had anything at all, let alone toys, prior to coming to us a month ago. Leo must be wondering what lottery he just won! He now sleeps on a giant, comfy, quilted bed with his name embroidered on it that was recently made for him.
Debbie Antonucci, a former AHS volunteer, took up a collection of comforters and blankets from her friends and sewed many dog and cat beds for lots of our shelter animals. Leo got his own giant bed and wants to send a big WOOF and Thanks to our friend Debbie! It's items like these that mean so much to our animals who, like Leo, may not have had anything but the cold ground to sleep on before. If you'd like to check out some of the items that Leo and our other animals can use while in our care, please check out our Amazon Wish List.
Leo had a great time playing with his duck out in the snow and he continues to make amazing progress every day. We just can't wait until he is well enough to go for his eye surgeries, and then will be able to see his new world for real for the first time. We think he's enjoying his new world just fine now though, and it just keeps getting better for him. Thank you again for supporting Leo and all of the animals in need that we care for. Please stay tuned for more from our gentle giant, Leo.
Check out Leo's Feb.9th update.
