There are dogs and other animals …. as well as children …. that wake up every day knowing the horrors of abuse, brutality and can only hope that the terror ends. We wonder what goes through their mind and when will this torment end.
the AHS was contacted by the Barnegat Police Dept. to respond to a possible domestic disturbance involving a dog. When the ACO arrived, they found this dog tied up in a garage with a young distraught boy clutching his dog. The boy advised that the dog is beaten every day by his father to “toughen” him up. An inebriated man came out and advised our ACO to “get that dog out of here”.
Overwhelming sadness for a powerless boy and his helpless dog falls heavily on our hearts for the injustice for both. Chance is now at Popcorn Park where he shows no aggression and craves human companionship and interaction. Our staff describes him as a “marshmallow”. This young gent has had a tragic beginning and now deserves more than what he had.
Our heart still goes out to an anguished boy who will remember the cruelty and his beloved dog long after boyhood.
