Thoughts and prayers are needed for Dante to help him through another challenge. Last year ,as you will remember, after he successfully completed 6 rounds of chemotherapy, Dante punctured his cornea and required surgery to save his eye. Late last Thursday he somehow injured his good eye.
Our vet staff immediately made arrangements with NorthStar Vets ophthalmologist Dr Vygantas. Dante was sedated and then given an evaluation that night by Dr. Vygantas. He had a tear in his cornea and would need surgery the next morning. While he was still sedated we put him in his transport cage for the trip to NorthStar the following morning. He did well overnight and made the trip to NorthStar to meet up with our veterinarians Dr.’s Paluch and Bergmann where they discussed the surgery with Dr. Vygantas.
Dante was sedated and brought into the surgery suite. After more than an hour and a half surgery, Dr. Vygantas felt the procedure went well. Dante was transported back to Popcorn Park where he is recovering. As of Monday morning, the surgery site is healing well, he is being a good patient, taking his medications and his appetite is improving. Dr. Vyganyas will be giving him a checkup at Popcorn Park this Sunday and we will know more about his prognosis then.
Again, your thoughts and prayers for Dante’s recovery are greatly appreciated. If you would like to help with Dante's expenses, you can donate to his care or you can sponsor him. Thank you.
