When an animal lover from Cortlandt, NY saw PUG PUPPIES FOR SALE on the internet, she drove to a Middlesex County residence to see them. When she arrived, the seller would not let her gain access in to see the pups but brought one of them out for her to view. The young pup had a flea infestation and rather than decline the sale, the New Yorker purchased the pup.
When the animal lover returned to Cortlandt, she related the story to her mother, who is an Animal Control Officer, and felt that the matter needed further investigation.
AHS Animal Control Officer Kevin Rooney was advised by the local police department of the complaint and Kevin and the police went to the residence and spoke with the woman who did not have the resources to properly care for the flea infested pups. In addition to a husband who was hospitalized, she was given some difficult choices to make.
The breeder gave up 5 pups but kept the two breeding females. An agreement was made that the two females would be spayed within a very short amount of time.
The pug pups are now at the AHS Tinton Falls shelter where they have gotten their first puppy shot and will be given a second shot in 2 weeks. At that point, the pugs will be available to loving homes.
