Spring weather started off a little late but kids took advantage of the wonderful temperatures to go to the local parks and enjoy the outings. Ironically, it was the beginning of National Dog Bite Prevention Week.
It was during a day at Rahway River Park that youngsters were enjoying their fun in the sun when a pit bull terrier interrupted the group to join in the playtime! It is not known if he was abandoned in the park or if he strayed …. but he was there and wanted to be included in their enjoyment. The love, admiration and interaction between the youngsters and the dog was unmistakable.
Sadly, at the end of the day, this handsome dog's hopes were dashed when the kids were leaving without him. His hopeful bubble had burst. Killian is now at the AHS where he is hoping for a family that will give him the love and admiration he enjoyed …. and now waits for a lifetime commitment of love. It appears that he has already been field-tested and passed with flying colors!!!
We have named him "Killian" in honor of a dog in Charleston, SC who tipped his owners to an abusive baby sitter who was brought to justice because of him.
Killian is at the AHS facility at 124 Evergreen Ave. in Newark. The AHS is open 7 days a week for your convenience. For more information on Killian, call us at 973-824-7080 or e-mail us and refer to File 134945.
