During a frigid air mass in February this adorable Shi Tzu mixture was found as a stray. She was unable to use her back legs and was brought to the AHS Newark facility.
The darling little lass was so helpless and she was immediately brought to the Medical Dept. for care. X-rays were taken and no injuries were detected. And so the sweet lass spent some time where various procedures and medications were initiated but none appeared to have any affect on her disability.
We call her Darla and have sent her to our Forked River facility where she has a larger area in which to exercise. The charming lass can stand … and sometimes walks a little. In the meantime, a small k-9 cart was sometimes used. Other options are being explored as to sending Darla out for an MRI or physical therapy.
Additional funds are needed so that we can help Darla have as normal a life as possible - your donation to our Res-Q Fund can make that difference. She is extremely young and very cuddly. You can follow Darla's progress by logging on to the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter facebook page.
For more information on Darla, call Popcorn Park at 609-693-1900 or e-mail us. Until we receive a more definitive answer on Darla's physical problems, availability for adoption is not yet known.
