Our newest little special needs case, Cookie, is already settling in and making lots of new friends. We're finding out that she's very vocal too, and when it was time for her first of many, many, spa days today, she talked up a storm!
In case you missed Cookie's story, she was brought in by her family when they could no longer care for her. Cookie was purchased as a puppy and is now about 8 1/2 years old. She has been suffering from severe dermititis, multiple skin, eye, and ear infections, luxating patellas, and a number of other medical maladies for about four years now. The infections have taken a major toll on her skin and it now sags severely and is extremely raw and coarse.
Cookie is on a regimen of medications for all of her ailments, a strict hypoallergenic diet, and is also on a daily walk schedule to strengthen her hind legs and help her luxating patellas. All of this treatment is going to take quite a while and Cookie will not be available for adoption until she makes a full recovery. This treatment is also quite costly, and we are so grateful that we have our Res-Q Fund to help animals such as Cookie. Our Res-Q Fund is used constantly for these pets in need and is constantly being depleted. Please consider helping to defray the costs of our many special needs animals by making a donation to our Res-Q Fund here
Although Cookie was quite vocal during her first spa day, she seemed to breathe a huge sigh of relief once she was clean and dry, and it's as if she realized that she is now on the road to recovery. Please stay tuned for more on our sweet little Cookie's progress.
