Vinnie had a lazy, hazy day of umm ….. well, winter still. Vinnie got a little spring fever today so he grabbed his blanket and a few toys, and headed outside for a while to take in the sights. Although Vinnie has been with us for almost a month and a half now, he actually seems to be getting younger! He really got his puppy-chewing going today when he nibbled a little on a rug, then on one of his "mom's" hair, then on the corner of a wall, then for dessert, he tried to gobble up some pine needles and moss while on his excursion outside! No need to worry about our Vinnie boy though, folks ...… he's just exhibiting normal puppy behavior, and we love that he's feeling good enough to be acting like a puppy! Vinnie also met a couple of cats today, but he was so over-excited to see them that he went into a Vinnie-howling-frenzy, and the cats were less than impressed. We will try some more feline introductions, but maybe on a day when Vinnie isn't feeling so rambunctious.
It still just amazes us that Vinnie is so full of life, love, and personality, despite all he's been through and the pain that he must be in on a daily basis. Although Vinnie is on pain medication to keep him comfortable, everyone is still astounded at how well he gets around with two broken hips. We do limit his activities but sometimes, the little guy just wants to get up and go! It's unbelievable how strong and resilient he is. Vinnie will be having the first of two surgeries to correct his hips in the next week or so, and we are looking forward to the day that he actually can run, play, jump, and get around as well as any other pup his age.
We are so grateful to all of you for supporting little Vinnie and our efforts to help him, and so many others like him. Would you like to donate toward Vinnie's medical care? Please make a contribution to our Res-Q Fund!
Vinnie will be having some fun this week since he may be somewhat out of commission for a while after his first surgery, so please stay tuned for more on the adventures of the Invincible Vinnie!
